Hence there is proper saving of power and also proper utilization of power. This is the basic idea behind the Photovoltaic peak load power cutting is to cut the excess power from the available sources.
The main objective of the work reported in this monograph is the fabrication of an experimental apparatus to detect slowly evolving anomalies (i.e., decrease in stiffness due to fatigue failure) in complex mechanical systems at an early stage by observing time series data of the available ultrasonic and performance measuring sensors. The information on evolving anomaly will serve as an input to the life extending control policy that will, in turn, generate corrective actions to mitigate fatigue crack damage in the specimen structures and thereby extend the remaining life of the system without any significant loss in performance. The monograph presents the design requirements for the experimental testbed. Physical modeling gives out the expected resonant frequencies. Finally, system identification presents the actual resonant frequencies achieved from the setup and compares the same with the theoretical physical model. The monograph discusses the proximity of the resonant frequencies achieved through physical modeling and system identification and presents conclusions on the same.
Laser tracking system (LTS) is one of the most powerful measurement and tracking instruments, and it has been widely used in accurate target tracking and measurement process in commercial or military applications in recent years. However traditionally, most approaches on the LTS provided very little detailed and complete information on building, developing, testing and troubleshooting processes for the LTS. To fill this gap, this book provides very detailed descriptions and analyses, both theoretically and practically, on optical, echanical, electronic and computer control programs in how to build and implement a real LTS with a complete set of documents. Some novel approaches, such as self-calibration of tracking gimbals and fuzzy logic control, are also covered in the book. The rapid worldwide growth of data and internet traffic in telecommunication networks has resulted in a sharp increase in the demand for transmission capacity. Efficient utilization of the existing optical fiber network is an answer to this growing demand. An important step to this end is the introduction of optical communication systems with terabits per second capacity, which are based on Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) system. This DWDM system has brought a big leap of transmission capacity in optical communication systems. Some research groups have already demonstrated that it is possible to transmit al-most a Tbits/s bit rate over thousands of kilometers. But such higher data transmission rates impose very strict requirements on the fiber plants and transmission systems. In particular the nonlinearity effects and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) can be a serious limitation on certain fiber links, particularly on links in older legacy networks.

The high inflow of vehicles in urban areas causes more air pollution and decreases air quality that leads to severe health diseases. This book enlightens the readers how an IoT based vehicular pollution monitoring system can be designed for green revolution. The hardware architecture and software implementation are discussed in length. The designed smart intelligent environmental system monitors the pollutants produced by the vehicles and also warns the vehicle owners to control the pollution. The system also sends the pollutant level data to the server for future analysis.

Tensegrities are of interest in structural design studies because of their lightweight property, aesthetic and modern look. Usually, the structures are built in such a way that struts are connected, which might not be the original definition for tensegrity. Open tensegrity systems must, in order to be stable, provide forces to the foundation or to secondary constructions that are beyond the scope of the forces resulting from their own weight and the external loads. Open systems have the advantage that the pressure elements don´t have to be used as diagonals, as in closed systems. As a result, shorter pressure sections are possible with open systems, which can be executed with a smaller cross section. A closed tensegrity system is a self-sufficient array of struts and tendons, arranged in such a way that the struts and tendons enforce an ongoing structural integrity in the overall assemblage. These are termed as ´´real´´ tensegrity systems. Closed systems are, regardless of their storage, inherently stable.

This document describes the work on the development of a semi-automatic hieroglyphic recognition system which uses neural network techniques. This system is developed for the HORUS project which is a cooperation between Nicola Whitehead, Nick Capanni and Stuart Watt. The necessary steps to create this system was to take an image in converting it to some grid and sending that on to a neural network which is the recognition part of the system. It is anticipated that this work will contribute towards the development of the HORUS project.
